    A Pronunciation Guide

    A Pronunciation Guide

I've been thinking for a week now that it might be a good idea if we had a pronunciation guide for our characters and other words that might be a little difficult to pronounce. So, if you would kindly add your own characters and other words that might be tricky to pronounce here, I'll make sure to make a list in this first post so that others can come here for a handy pronunciation guide.

    I'll start:

    Alahna (uh-LAH-nuh)
    Berchnal (BURK-nahl)
    Briella (bree-ELL-a)
    Brigalar (BRIDGE-ahlar)
    Derec (DEREK)
    Dormahna (DOOR-mah-nuh)
    Goldie (GOLD-EE)
    Gumshoe (Gum-Shoe)
    Hierlda (HIGH-er-ELL-dah)
    Kyuusho (KY-oosh-o)

    Nemalar (NEE-mah-lar)
    Rocquelle (ROW-Kell)
    Sirahna (sir-RON-na)
    Sudalar (SUE-da-lar)

    Places:
    Byrill *(by-REAL)
    Crenna (CRIN-a)

    ME:
    Kenne (Kenny)

Also, feel free to ask for pronunciations here as well. I'll see about finding the correct pronunciation and add it.
Clones under the MC account: Berchnal, Justine, The Zee Twins: Daizee and Maizee, A Man of Mystery, Styx and Kratos

It amuses me to see how you pronounce some of the names I've been saying in my head differently for quite some time now.

I will have a pronunciation guide coming, *but I'll have to work with my symbols program first to get the phonetics right.

    Bravo on the idea, Kenne!
One for sorrow, two for joy,
Three for a girl, four for a boy,
Five for silver, six for gold,
Seven for a story that's never been told.

Spanish is much simpler. Every letter has a sound and that's it. Fonetics really confuse me

Meteoro: Meteor (like the rock) - o (like the first "o" in "Ozone")

And that would be it because I'm already too tired.

    Eldon - AL-d'n
    Gamma as in gamma ray
    Mac as in Mackenzie
    Bert as in Ernie
Eirik as in Eric (spelt it funny so it looked weird)
Mouse as in I hate meeces to pieces
Bringer of Darkness as in AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Most place names (e.g. Habukinini) are pinched from Polynesian (and generally actual place names), the consonants are close enough to English and the vowels are a as in fAther, e as in bEd, i as in mEEting, o as in bOUght, u as in rOOf.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa.
We're supposed to have pronunciations for things?
Oh man, I just write stuff, I never knew it was supposed to sound like actual word type things.
I mean, Lamiais, honestly. How the heck are you supposed to pronounce that.
If I knew I needed to know how to pronounce names I would have named all of my characters "Bob".

    *sigh*

    Ooookay, let's start slow then.

Qwaring (KWA-ring) (Not Kwar-ing, and I'm talkin' to you Nestle )
Or just call him Q which sounds like Q.
Next we have Cloney (clone-EE), or Qwaring's clone#1 (KWA-rings clone NUM-ber one), or That Idiot Clone (that EE-diot clone).
As for a location, Mr. Clone-EE rules Variosk (VERY-osk, I don't know what an osk is but this place is very much it).

Am I forgetting anything or anyone?

((I'm sure I'll get around to a serious post on this subject, but I need to figure out that Lamiais thing first. That one really makes no sense.))

    In my mind it's:

Lamiais (Lah-MIGH-is) where MIGH is pronounced like High.
